Plan Anti-religion Campaign in Russia During Passover Week

What is termed a “Culture Week,” but will in effect be a campaign against Passover and religious observances, is the plan of the Jewish section of the Communist Party for the week when the Jewish population will celebrate the Passover festival.

The week, according to the Yevsektzia plan, it to be devoted to propaganda among the Jewish masses against synagogue attendance and the eating of matzoth. In Leningrad concerts and meetings were arranged for the first Seder night. Active members of the Yevsektzia were mobilized for the propaganda campaign. In Charkoff a group of Kustars at a special meeting adopted a resolution introduced by the Yevsektzia representatives to work on the Passover holiday.

In Kiev the famous Brodsky synagogue was converted into a club. In Leningrad the Communist club. the Yiddish Red Soldier, demanded the confiscation of a synagogue for its use as club headquarters.
