Poland honored a former social worker who saved 2,500 children from the Nazis. Polish Foreign Minister Anna Fotyga marked the U.N.-designated International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Saturday by mourning the Nazis’ victims and praising Irena Sendler, 97, a Warsaw resident who rescued Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto.
