Austrian police armed with submachine guns and directed by helicopters are combing the woods today near a Jewish immigrant transit center on the outskirts of Vienna in search of Arab terrorists believed to be planning an attack on the center. A telephone report from Vienna this morning said the manhunt was focussed around the Schenau Palace where Jewish emigrants from the Soviet Union are quartered while awaiting transportation to Israel.
The action followed yesterday’s arrest of three armed Arabs who arrived in Vienna with forged Israeli passports. The Arabs admitted their passports were forgeries but refused to give police their real names, countries of origin or to say who sent them to Austria.
