Polish Free Loan Societies to Appeal to American Jewry for Aid

An urgent appeal for aid will be sent to American Jewry it was decided at a conference held here yesterday and addressed by fifty representatives of the 270 offices of the Gmilas Chassodim, Free Loan Societies.

The conference was addressed by Dr. Bernhard Kahn, European Director of the activities of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, Rabbi Schorr, chief Rabbi of Warsaw and Dr. Heinrich Rosmarin, vice-president of the Club of Jewish Deputies in the Polish Sejm.

Dr. Kahn assured the conference that the Joint Distribution Committee would continue to help the Jews in their needs.

The delegates stated that the applications which come to their offices reveal the desperate plight of the Jews. Reports delivered showed that 120,000 zlotys had been distributed in loans without interest.

Others who addressed the conference included Rabbi Rubinstein of Vilna, S. Zereszewski and M. Wisclicki.
