Population in Palestine Ordered to Register for Bread with Bakeries

An order directing the entire population of Palestine to register with their grocery-shops and bakeries for bread and flour in order to insure equal distribution of these commodities, was issued here today by the office of the Food Controller.

At the same time the office of the Jewish Agency today called a press conference at which the journalists present were urged to impress upon the Jewish population the need for speedier enlistment.

The executive of the Jewish National Council today addressed a letter to the Palestine Government asking for permission to send through a neutral country a direct cable to the Jewish Council in the Warsaw ghetto expressing the condolences of the Yishuv on the tragic death of Adam Cherniakoff, the head of the ghetto who committed suicide, and urging the Jews in the ghetto to maintain courage and patience.
