Practically all Jewish communities throughout the country are preparing for the holding of elections of delegates to the American Jewish Congress, according to advices received by the Congress office here. The election is due June 24. Every Jew and Jewess over 21 years of age will be entitled to vote.
The candidates will be elected from amongst the candidates nominated at conventions to be held in each city. Jewish organizations in all cities have been asked to participate in the conventions by sending delegates. The Nominating Conventions are scheduled to take place during the week of May 20.
New York has been divided into 10 Congress districts, each of which will have a nominating convention between May 22 and May 27. Greater New York is entitled to elect 100 delegates, while the rest of the country elects 200 delegates by popular vote. An additional 100 delegates is alloted to National Jewish Organizations.
