The Innsbruck court is preparing to transfer Philip Halsmann on Thursday to the prison for dangerous criminals, called “Steinan-Donau,” where Hilsner was incarcerated years ago.
In the meantime the Innsbruck rabbi is paying daily visits to Philip in prison and seeking to comfort him, to which Halsmann replies bitterly that though he is forced to wear prison clothes he will continue his fight for justice until his last breath. He insists that he will never sign an application for a pardon, although he realizes how much grief this attitude on his part causes his mother.
Professor Mager, a priest of the Benedictine Order, is the latest prominent Christian to join the defence of Halsmann. The leader of the Women’s Organization of the Christian Socialists of Tyrol has also joined with those who are fighting for a new trial for Halsmann.
