President Bush nominated Alan Patricof, a Democrat and major Jewish investor in Israel, to a government agency that guides foreign assistance to poor countries. Bush on Wednesday put up Patricof for the Millennium Challenge Commission, which assesses candidates for aid based on good-governance principles. Patricof, of New York, is a co-founder of Apax Partners and a director of Boston Properties. He has invested significantly in Israel and is a major Democratic fund-raiser.
