President Clinton is disappointed that Syrian President Hafez Assad did not attend the funeral of Morocco’s King Hassan II on Sunday. Clinton had hoped to use the opportunity to bring Assad and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak together for the first time. “I am slightly concerned and don’t quite understand why he didn’t come,” Clinton told Israeli reporters.
