Prime Minister Ariel Sharon reiterated that Israeli troops have no intention of remaining indefinitely in Palestinian-controlled areas of the West Bank, but he added that Israeli forces would leave “when we are done with our mission.” Sharon also said Wednesday that the “deep friendship with the United States remains strong” despite occasional disagreements.
