Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said Israel’s planned withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and northern West Bank will further Zionism. “Leaving Gaza is the future of Zionism,” Sharon said Thursday at a conference on fostering development in the Galilee and other underpopulated areas of Israel. “The disengagement plan does not just entail withdrawing from Gaza, but also strengthening settlement in the Galilee, Negev and greater Jerusalem.”
