Prime Minister Smuts Urges South Africa to Open Her Doors to Immigrants from Europe

Field Marshal Jan Christian Smuts, Prime Minister of the Union of South Africa, said today that South Africa should open her doors to immigration and encourage people to come and share in the great industrial development of the country which would take place within the next five to ten years.

Smuts was addressing the annual congress of the Free State United Party South Africa’s human resources would not be large enough for the industrial and other developments to come and the country would need a much bigger European population very nice, he said.
