Prof. Jacob Neusner of Brown University was named president of the American Academy of Religion at its annual meeting which concluded here yesterday. The academy inaugurated a permanent section on Judaic studies. Prof. Neusner, who was vice-president and chairman of the program committee during the past year, will be the first scholar in the Judaic field to head the 60-year-old institution.
