Professor Albert Einstein, who is now at the Institute for Advanced study at Princeton, No. J., has written to Oxford University, in England, suggesting that the funds for his annual lectures at that institution be employed this year in making place at the university for one or two scientists who have been dismissed from their posts in Germany by the Nazis, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported yesterday.
The author of the relativity theory has notified officials of the university that he would like to make room for refugees needing the position.
Dr. Einstein, it is learned, since his arrival in this country last Fall, has set aside a definite part of his income to be expended for the benefit of his scientist friends who have been made penniless by loss of their positions at the hands of the Nazis. He is known to feel their plight keenly and has engaged in many philanthropic activities in their be half.
