Prompt action by police averted an anti-Semitic riot in the town of Dombegyhaza, near Szeged, when local farmers demonstrated against the low prices paid by merchants for their eggs and the high prices charged for clothing.

During the riot, in which 150 persons participated, anti-Jewish cries were heard, but police halted the outbreak before anybody was injured. The only casualties were the eggs, which stained the marketplace yellow. Marton Stern, president of the Szeged Jewish Community, who had ruahed to the scene, thanked the authorities for their quick action.

Pharmacists whose licenses were revoked during the war for racial or religious reasons will be able to regain them under a government decree issued here during the week-end. All applications must be submitted by May 1, 1947. If the licensee is dead or disabled his widow or wife may apply in his stead.
