The Archives and Research Committee of the Eastern Region of the Canadian Jewish Congress has decided to recommend to the organization’s national executive creation of a National Cultural Institute in Canada, it was disclosed today.
The Institute would house the National Archives of Canadian Jewry, and a museum. The archives of the Canadian Jewish Congress has grown to such an extent as to require adequate housing facilities to enable full use of the material. The committee suggested that private sponsorship be sought to make possible creation of the Institute. The Committee also disclosed plans to establish a Canadian Jewish Historical Society.
