Propose National Sports Body of Jews

A nation-wide athletic association to unite Jewish youth was proposed at a reception Wednesday night of the Jewish Welfare Board’s metropolitan section to the American Maccabi team at the Ninety-second Street Y.M.H.A.

The following members of the American team were presented by David White, athletic manager of the team: Sol A. Hornstein, Harry Hoffman, Harry Werbin, Jules Finkelstein, William Steiner, Morty Scheinberg and Janet Lifson.

Speakers included Nat Holman, basketball coach; Israel S. Chipkin of the Jewish Education Association; Dan Ferris, secretary of the American Athletic Union; Leslie Flaksman of Bronx House; Magistrate Jonah J. Goldstein; A. W. Rosenthal of the Bronx “Y” and Rabbi Louis I. Newman of Temple Rodeph Sholom. E. J. Londow presided.
