Proposed changes in Belgium’s law allowing war crimes charges to be brought against foreigners are not expected to affect proceedings against Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. The decision to amend the law follows concern in Brussels that relations with the United States could be harmed following the submission last week of charges of war crimes U.S. leaders allegedly committed against Iraqi civilians during the 1991 Persian Gulf War, Reuters reported.
