The prospects for Jewish immigration into the countries of Latin-America in the near future are poor, Mare Regalsky, editor of (##) Presse, Buenos Aires Yiddish daily, yesterday told the Latin-American Conference (##) the World Jewish Congress, meeting here.
The conference heard reports on the general situation of the Jewish communities in the various South American nations. M.S. Goren of Chile reported that (##)0,000 Jews live in that country on an equal basis with other citizens. What anti-Jewish agitation there is emanates from an organization of ex-Nazis which operates under an anti-Communist front, he said. S.B. Wechselman of Peru disclosed that there are less Jews living in that country now than before the war, but it is extremely difficult for residents to bring in relatives from Europe.
