Specification of religion on the identity discs borne by soldiers has resulted in representations to the War Office, it was learned today.

The wisdom of clearly identifying Jews, thousands of whom are in the British army, is questioned in the representations. It is pointed out that a Jewish soldier, if taken prisoner, might fare worse than members of the Christian faith.
