Professor Perry Meyer, assistant professor of law at McGill University, and a member of the national executive of the Canadian Jewish Congress, was appointed by the Government of Quebec today to serve as a member of the newly constituted Superior Council of Education. His appointment marks the first time a Jew has been named to serve on any Quebec Government educational body.
The Superior Council of Education is composed by law of 16 Catholic representatives, four Protestant representatives, and one member who is neither Catholic nor Protestant. Professor Meyer was selected from a list of nominees submitted by Canadian Jewish Congress at the request of the Quebec Government.
