Quebec’s premier criticized a separatist’s comments about Jews and immigrants. “No democracy has room for those kinds of comments, when we understand that genocide negates the very notion of humanity,” Lucien Bouchard said. He spoke after Yves Michaud, a former member of the Quebec legislature, said that Jews believe they were the only ones to have suffered in world history.
