Rabbi Balfour Brickner, former spiritual leader of Temple Sinai, Washington, D. C., and for six years a teacher of Old Testament and post-Biblical Judaism at American University, Washington, today was named associate director of the Commission on Social Action. The Commission is made up of representatives of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, which is the central body of 630 Reform synagogues, as well as of representatives of the Central Conference of American Rabbis and the Jewish Chautauqua Society.
Announcement of Rabbi Brickner’s appointment was made by Rabbi Maurice N. Eisendrath, president of the UAHC. Albert Vorspan is director of the Commission.
