Rabbi Philip Bernstein of Rochester, N. Y., has been named executive director of the Committee on Army and Navy Religious Activities of the National Jewish Welfare Board, it was announced today by Frank L. Weil, president of the Board.
Rabbi Bernstein has been granted a leave of absence by his congregation in order to undertake, on a full-time basis, the task of aiding in recruiting Jewish chaplains for the armed forces and directing the other religious services rendered by the Jewish Welfare Board to the men in the army and navy.
