Rabbi Tager Chief Rabbi of Damascus, was threatened with being kidnapped and held for ransom by the leaders of the Syrian rebels.

In a letter addressed to the Rabbi, the rebels demanded that the rabbi pay the sum of five hundred gold pounds.

The rebels attacked a train four kilometers south of Damascus. Two passengers were killed.
