Rabbi Wise Barred from Speaking on Nazis at Congress

Rabbi Stephen S. Wise of New York was stricken off the list of speakers in the general debate at the Nineteenth Biennial World Zionist Congress today because it was feared by Congress leaders he would deliver a strong attack against the Nazi regime in Germany.

It was thought that ### address by Rabbi Wise on the Nazi situation would involv # the Congress in politics which the Zionist Organization ##anxious to avoid.

This action and other alleged instances of playing down the Nazi issue today gave rise to a strong movement among a group of Congress delegates to counteract the soft-pedalling of the German issue on the floor.
