Rabbinate Joins in Strike Call

The Chief Rabbinate of the Jewish community of Palestine has joined in the call for a general strike of protest against the suspension of the immigration schedule. This is the first time that the spiritual leaders of the Jewish community here have called a political strike of the Jewish population.

The meeting of the Jewish National Council which issued the call for the strike was attended by all members of the Palestine Zionist Executive and by the world famous Hebrew poet, Chaim Bialik.

A meeting of the political committee of the Jewish Agency has been called for June 1 by Col. Frederick Kisch, president of the Palestine executive of the Agency. The meeting is expected to decide on what political measures will be taken to counteract the decision for the suspension of immigration.

SPIRIT OF DETERMINATION PREVAILS

A spirit of determination and intense excitement manifests itself among all parts of the Jewish population. The storm of indignation is sweping over the country and reaching out into the most isolated Jewish settlement.
