The Rabbinical Assembly of America, the national association of Conservative rabbis in the United States, called upon Congress today to enact into law a bill providing hospital and nursing hone care for the aged and disabled. The bill, introduced by Representative Aime Forand of Rhode Island, provides for the financing of such care by an increase in the Social Security tax.
In another resolution the Assembly, which is holding its annual convention here, called upon Conservative rabbis throughout the country “to become directly concerned and involved in the preparation, distribution and supervision of all kosher products.”
The Assembly asked the Synagogue Council of America, the national representative body of the Conservative, Orthodox and Reform movements, to take the lead in the creation of “a unified, democratically constituted national organization to serve as the spokesman of the total American Jewish community in the United States.” The Assembly offered the services of its membership in aiding the Council to carry out such a program.
