The rabbinical ban on poultry was again postponed yesterday when Judge Otto A. Rosalsky announced after a closed conference in the office of Louis Lande, chief Board of Aldermen examiner, that the decision of the market owners on acceptance of his settlement establishing rabbinical supervision of poultry markets will be heard next Monday.
Judge Rosalsky, the Mayor’s mediator in a threatened kosher slaughterers’ strike, said that “this is the final settlement.” He indicated that the postponement was necessitated by the opposition of the Department of Agriculture to the increased cost which supervision would entail.
Rabbi Nachman Ebin and Rabbi Abraham I. Feivelson, chairman and secretary respectively of the Kashruth Association, said that the ban will be declared by 4 p. m. next Monday if the market men do not accept Judge Rosalsky’s decision. Acceptance is regarded as unlikely.
