Emphatic protests against the censoring by State Education Director E. L. Bowsher of scenes of book-burning and Nazis attacking Jews in the March of Time film, “The New Palestine,” were voiced by Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver and Barnett Brickner. Dr. Brickner said, “It seems the censors have gone completely haywire.”
Mr. Bowsher explained the scenes were “gruesome and might stir up bitter feeling between Germans and Jews in Ohio.”
