Bonds of friendship and devotion between master and valet, demonstrated through history as far back as King Saul, were evidenced in the case of Rabbi Meir Simchah Ha’cohen of Dvinsk and his valet.
Much comment was current today when it was learned that the twenty-eight year old “shammes” of the late Rabbi Ha’cohen, who passed away recently at the age of seventy, died. He grieved for several months and yesterday died of heart failure.
