Adena Berkowitz and Roxanne Kleiman, Ramaz High School seniors, are interning at the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in its editorial department as part of the school’s work-study program. Dr. Noam Shudofsky, Ramaz administrator, noted that this is the eighth consecutive year that the school is conducting a community-oriented program for senior class students during April and May. The purpose of the program, he pointed out, “is educational and it affords the student the opportunity to work on a volunteer basis in an area of interest of his (or her) own choosing.”
Berkowitz, 17, is a correspondent for the school newspaper, The Ram Page, and editor of the Yiddish Pioneer, a literary section of the 1976-77 school yearbook. Kleiman, 17, is editor of the English Pioneer, also a literary section of the yearbook. Both said they chose the JTA as their project from among a variety of options because they felt that by working there they could best combine their interest in journalism and the Jewish community. Since the program began at Ramaz, a number of its seniors interned at the JTA.
