Reform Rabbis in France, Belgium and Switzerland issued a statement expressing their opposition to gay marriages. The move was prompted by a controversy in France over a bill to grant extended rights to gay couples. The statement was also issued to refute claims by Orthodox rabbis in France that their Reform counterparts support such marriages, one of the rabbis who signed the statement said.
