Legally, the position of the Jews in Germany has remained unchanged in recent months, but in actual practice the Jews are much worse off, owing to the introduction of further restrictions in all occupations involving state recognition, a report submitted at today’s meeting of the Board of Deputies of British Jews declared.
The report, which was submitted by the Joint Foreign Committee, made up of representatives of the Anglo-Jewish Association and the Board of Deputies, stressed the fact that even such positions as teaching the blind and instruction in sports has now been closed to German Jews.
Leonard Montefiore, president of the Anglo-Jewish Association, declared that the world-wide hostility of Catholics, Protestants and Jews will have little effect on the Nazi regime.
“But Nazi propaganda abroad is shattered and we hope will never recover,” he stated.
