The Jewish Gemeindeblat, official organ of the Berlin Jewish community, today published the following New Year message:
“We have coped with our fate in an effort to solve the most difficult of Jewish problems, to build a new occupation life for German Jewry, to establish a new basis of earning livelihoods among numerous Jewish families, while our 15,000 immigrants to Palestine have destroyed the prejudice prevailing with regard to Jewish capabilities by cooperating in all forms of work in a new country.
“We have accomplished everything we could with our own resources, but we are aware that the German government alone can give final shape to our status.
“We hope that the forthcoming decision will be such that it will allow German Jewry to perform a useful work in the German Fatherland and to live in esteem and dignity. German Jewry is willing for incorporation in a new state which would look forward to assigning to German Jews a new basis of cooperation in the rebuilding of the German Fatherland.”
