Religious Issue Resumed in Israel’s Public Transportation System

The issue of Saturday night public transportation and the objections of Orthodox Israelis to the resumption of public bus schedules before the Sabbath has ended, came to the fore again this week-end. As religious circles threatened to resume demonstrations, the management of the cooperative bus companies insisted that the Ministry of Transportation has ordered them to begin running buses before the Sabbath ended, to prevent the formation of huge lines of waiting passengers.
