Progress in the consultations between the Jewish Agency Executive and the Palestine government to determine the proportion of the Jewish contribution to the public revenue of Palestine was reported yesterday in the House of Commons by Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister, Secretary of State for the Colonies.
The Colonial Secretary also stated that the Palestine government is now considering a plan to determine the share of the Jews in employment in public works.
The statements of the Colonial Secretary were in reply to a query raised by David Adams, who pointed out that only forty Jews were employed last year in Jerusalem public works of a total of 280 employes. This despite the fact that the Jews constitute sixty per cent of the population of Jerusalem.
