Because of his desire to become a full-fledged citizen of the Soviet state, Rabbi Samuel Spivack of Yaruga, district of Mohilev, resigned from the rabbinate.

In a declaration published in the local newspaper the rabbi explained his action was due to a desire to acquire the rights of a proletarian in the Soviet state. He also wants to become a member of the local credit kassa.
