Richard Perle, an influential defense analyst, has resigned from the Pentagon’s Defense Policy Board. Richard Perle served as chairman of the board until last year, and he was one of the leading advocates for U.S. military action against Iraq. He served on the board for 17 years and resigned because he feared his controversial views could hurt the Bush administration during the president’s re-election campaign, Perle said in a letter released Thursday.
