The Union of Italian Jewish Communities was today informed by the Church authorities that the clerical privileges of Giorgio Trillini, an ordained priest who wrote a number of anti-Semitic leaflets, had been revoked.
The Union had complained to the competent Bishop about Trillini’s latest anti-Jewish work, an attack on Father Mariano, a staunch advocate of Catholic-Jewish dialogue. Trillini’s works are usually styled after other known anti-Semitic books which were distributed during the recent session of the Ecumenical Council.
The Bishop explained in his reply to the Union that he had revoked permission for Trillini to work in the laic apostolate and that the anti-Semite was abusing a clerical title since he is not a cleric.
