The 15th anniversary of the deportation of 2,000 Roman Jews to Nazi concentration camps was commemorated here this week-end in observances at the Jewish cemetery and the Main Synagogue. Chief Rabbi Elio Toaff officiated at both.

Israel Ambassador Eliahu Sasson represented Israel President Itzhak Ben Zvi and the Israel Government at the final solemn funeral service today for the late Pope Pius XII. Also present in their official capacities were Chief Rabbi Toaff and the heads of Rome’s Jewish community and the Federation of Italian Jewish Communities.
