Julius Rosenwald, Chicago philanthropist and merchant, announced today on his arrival for the annual convention of the American Hospital Association that the chief purpose of his visit here was to sponsor a foundation to lessen and stabilize the cost of medical and hospital treatment for the average man.
“As matters stand today,” Mr. Rosenwald said, “the average man either has to be a charity patient or else incur expenses for hospitalization which are too heavy for him. When it comes to hospital care, the cost of a private room, private nurse and the fee of the physician is so great that many self-respecting men who want to pay for their service fight shy of medical attention of which they are very much in need.”
Mr. Rosenwald is scheduled to address the convention today.
