Declaring that the government was considering a measure providing for the limitation of Jewish students in the universities, Minister of Education Anghelescu appealed to the anti-Semitic student-body to keep the peace. The Minister assured the students of an early ordinance being promulgated regulating Jewish admissions. Students belonging to the association headed by the anti-Semitic Professor Kuza agreed to cause no disturbances, pending the enforcement of the order. In the meantime, they proclaimed a “peaceful boycott” on Jewish students, demanding separate seats for them in the class-rooms and lecture halls.
