The Roumanian government and the Bessarabian authorities are endeavoring to conciliate the Jews of Kishinev and to allay their resentment arising from the recent disturbances. Yesterday Minister Panhalipa, police prefect Holban and Mayor Regrescu came to the office of Chief Rabbi Zirelson offering the regrets of the government and the Roumanian people at the anti-Semitic occurrences. Panhalipa assured Rabbi Zirelson that there was no anti-Semitic movement in Bessarabia, citing as proof that the Roumanian people resent anti-Semitism and the fact that the government is establishing a Jewish teachers’ seminary in Kishinev.

Minister Panhalipa asked Rabbi Zirelson to announce to the Jewish communities and also in the Kishinev synagogues that the authorities were not guilty in the recent disturbances Rabbi Zirelson promises to submit the minister’s declaration to a special meeting of the rabbis.
