Rumanian Government Nationalizes Hospitals Operated by Jewish Communities

The Rumanian Government today issued a decree nationalizing the 19 hospitals throughout the country operated by Jewish communities. The decree takes effect immediately.

The law cleared up an unsettled issue remaining from June when the government promulgated legislation confining the jurisdiction of the Jewish communities to purely religious matters. The total bed capacity of the hospitals is 1,329.
