Rumania’s Foreign Minister Gheorghe Macovescu is due here tomorrow for a four day official visit as guest of Foreign Minster Yigal Allon. Macovescu will manage to meet with Premier Yitzhak Rabin before the Premier leaves for Washington, informed sources said. The visit returns former Foreign Minister Abba Eban’s visit to Rumania last Nov.

Israeli officials are particularly pleased with the current rise in official visits here–Britain’s second-ranking Cabinet Minister, Lord President of the Council Edward Short, is currently here as Allon’s guest–as symbolizing an end to a difficult period for Israel of near Isolation on the international diplomatic front.

France and Israel are to exchange Foreign Ministers’ visits before the year’s end–the first French visit here ever and the first Israel official visit to Paris since the Six-Day War. Short met with Allon in a working session in Jerusalem Friday, having flown in from Cyprus Thursday evening in a Royal Air Force jet. He is spending the weekend with the Foreign Minister at his Kibbutz Ginossar country home.
