Russia’s central election commission refused to allow ultranationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky to register for the country’s upcoming presidential elections. The move, based on Zhirinovsky’s failure to list a two-room apartment in his property declaration, is being seen as another attempt to pave the way for acting President Vladimir Putin’s victory in the March 26 elections.
