The Jews of the Saar today were formally welcomed into the German Jewish community in a manifesto issued by the Reichsvertretung der Deutschen Juden, representative body of all German Jewry.

“You have been reunited with German Jewry,” the manifesto states. “Our faith has been linked up again in common work, common sorrow and the duty of new obligations imposed upon you.

“We will share everything with you. Our aid will be mutual. We will stand together faithfully at the command and for the hopes of our German Jewry.”

The entire Jewish press, irrespective of party, solemnly welcomed reunion of the Saarland with Germany. The Jews of Germany, in general, share as Germans and Jews in Hitler’s greeting message to the Saar, it is stated. The press points out that although the Jews of the Saar are spared for a year from the effects of “Aryan” legislation, “their fate is the same as ours. It is not easy. We are bound to bear it with dignity.”
