“Guards of the Sabbath,” orthodox Jews whose traditional duty it is to guard the Sabbath from desecration, policed the streets to see that shops were kept closed Saturday. Gathering before an art shop where an exhibition of the pictures of Elias Newman, Palestine artist, were being shown, the Jews demanded that the owner close his place of business. His refusal caused an argument. British police intervened and made a number of arrests.
