Samuel Bronfman Appointed by Canadian Premier to Government Body

Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent announced the appointment of Samuel Bronfman of Montreal, outstanding Jewish philanthropist and president of the Canadian Jewish Congress, to the nation-wide, 21-member Canada Council which will administer the government fund for the advancement of arts and sciences. The government has already allocated $100, 000, 000 for the first year’s operation of the fund.
